Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer for Dining Out For Life!
Volunteer Ambassadors play a key role in helping to make Dining Out For Life a success and in raising money to support The Damien Center clients and services! By sharing brief messages with diners, Ambassadors deliver important info about The Damien Center's work in HIV care and prevention and the generosity of the participating restaurant, while typically bringing in more than $20,000 in donations just from individual diners! When you add the donations from individual diners to the 100%, 50% and 25% donations from the participating restaurants, a great deal of money is raised to support HIV care and prevention in central Indiana. What a difference you can make with just a few hours of your time!!
We want our Ambassadors to feel very comfortable speaking to diners, which requires a brief online training and a mandatory training session at The Damien Center. The most successful Ambassadors use April to create their own social media events and/or involve their colleagues and friends to attend their restaurant shift. By having friends at the restaurant, especially early in the shift, Ambassadors build confidence by testing their message on a friend! Then the Ambassadors greet diners during a four- to five-hour restaurant shift on Thursday, April 26, 2018, which are mostly dinner shifts. We depend heavily on our Ambassadors to honor their full commitment - the restaurants need you, The Damien Center clients need you, and the diners need to hear your message!
Ready to sign up? Just fill out our online sign-up form and we'll be in touch. Remember that your preferred restaurants or shift may already be taken (and we add restaurants regularly), so identify the part of town that works best for you to select multiple options. Please try the form from The Damien Center's main website, Damien.org, if you have any trouble with this version, or contact Tyler at firstname.lastname@example.org or 317.632.0123 ext. 272.
