History of Dining Out For Life in Austin: A Legacy of Support and Community

Since 1992, Dining Out For Life (DOFL) has been a beloved event in Austin, bringing together the community to support people living with HIV. For decades, AIDS Services of Austin (ASA) championed this event as a critical fundraiser, providing life-affirming resources for Central Texans affected by HIV and AIDS. With each meal shared and each dollar raised, DOFL directly benefited ASA’s mission. Over the years, this event has become a symbol of Austin’s commitment to ending the HIV epidemic while keeping all funds raised here local.

In 2020, ASA joined forces with Vivent Health, a national leader in HIV care and prevention. Today, Vivent Health proudly carries forward the mission and legacy of ASA, continuing to provide high-quality medical care, social support, and advocacy to people affected by HIV across Central Texas. This year, we’re excited to host Dining Out For Life for the first time under the Vivent Health name. While our name has changed, our purpose remains steadfast—the same event, the same community impact, and the same commitment to a healthy, thriving future for those living with HIV.

By dining out, Austinites continue to make a meaningful difference, and together as Vivent Health, we’re building on ASA’s legacy to fight HIV in our city.
