STOP AIDS Project - Established in 1985, the STOP AIDS Project works to prevent HIV transmission among all gay and bisexual men in San Francisco through multicultural, community-based organizing.

Internationally recognized as a successful model of grassroots prevention and support, STOP AIDS brings diverse gay and bisexual men together to talk about the challenges and issues posed by HIV/AIDS through neighborhood outreach, workshops, and community forums.

Our work extends beyond education - we help change behavior, create personal commitment to safer sex, build community support for each individual, and live these compelling beliefs: HIV transmission can be prevented.

AIDS Project East Bay (APEB) is the oldest organization of its kind in the East Bay Area and serves more than 2,500 individuals per year with its various services. Serving one of the most diverse populations in the country APEB often reaches into the margins to provide medical care, access to life saving drugs, housing, financial assistance and mental health support.  APEB’s clinic provides primary health care services, assistance with AIDS drugs, mental health counseling and a variety of alternative and supplemental health care services. Our medical case managers help clients to navigate all of the services that they may need to live health lives.  APEB also provides HIV testing, youth programs for HIV positive youth, HIV prevention services, housing assistance for people living with HIV, and more.

The Allen Temple Baptist Church AIDS Ministry, a faith-based organization, seeks to combat the fear, prejudice and lack of knowledge that surrounds HIV/AIDS by providing critical medical and social services, as well as prevention awareness education. Our efforts focus deeply and solely on two geographic areas of the world presently in crisis: East Oakland, California and Zimbabwe, Africa. Locally in East Oakland and surrounding communities we provide: HIV/AIDS medical and social services and prevention awareness education to people at risk, especially high-risk youth and young adults. Internationally in Zimbabwe we provide: HIV/AIDS medical treatment, life-saving HIV/AIDS anti-retroviral medication and prevention awareness education to Africans in grave need, as well as essential living support to orphaned children.

California Prostitutes Education Project (CAL-PEP)was founded in 1984 and is nationally recognized for its effective approaches to working with hard to reach, high risk populations. Our work takes us into the trenches of East and West Oakland and other communities in the five bay area counties of Alameda, San Francisco, Marin, San Mateo and Contra Costa. Over 25 years, CAL-PEP’s HIV/AIDS prevention, education and services have been instrumental in the development of effective prevention techniques such as street outreach and mobile HIV and STD testing. CAL-PEP’s target population includes African Americans and other people of color, drug users, sex workers, homeless and ex-offender populations. We include all ages and gender. Most of the people we serve are economically disadvantaged. We constantly evaluate our services and have documented behavior change and improvements in the people we serve.

HEPPAC - HIV Education and Prevention Project (HEPPAC) was started as a result of activist wanting to stop the spread of HIV amongst injecting drug user, their families and communities. HEPPAC provides HIV, STI testing, education, and treatment. We also provide a drop-in center with a nurse and clinical case management food and showers. They see at least 13,000 people a year through our Harm Reduction Program.

Rainbow Community Center of Contra Costa County (RCC) is located in Concord CA. RCC provides services and support to the entire LGBT community in Contra Costa County and adjacent areas. The Center operates programs for LGBT youth, LGBT seniors, mental health services and programs for People with HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS services provided by RCC include a weekly drop-in food pantry. People who can’t visit the Center receive food deliveries twice a month. A growing home visitor program also provides social support to home-bound clients. The Center hosts a weekly support group for HIV-positive men and a monthly dinner for everyone living with HIV/AIDS. RCC also operates the only evening HIV testing clinics in Contra Costa County. Brotherhood First, a social and support group for young gay and bisexual men 21-35 years old, meets several times per month and offers opportunities to build strong friendships and healthy relationships and promotes HIV prevention and safer sex. RCC lost all of our government-based funding for HIV prevention programs in 2009. The Center is working hard to fill the gap created by these budget cuts and we appreciate the opportunity to participate in Dining Out For Life.

WORLD (Women Organized to Respond to Life-threatening Disease) WORLD connects HIV-positive women, their families, allies, and communities to one another through peer-based education, support, advocacy, and leadership development.
