The Center for AIDS Research, Education and Services (CARES) transforms lives through HIV/AIDS care, research and community awareness.
CARES utilizes a Coordination of Care model that provides comprehensive services in one location.
The center’s state-of–the-art medical clinic is complimented by extensive social services, mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling, dental care, health education, on-site pharmacy, and outreach.
Research is conducted on-site through the AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (ACTU) funded by the National Institute of Heath.
CARES has been providing treatment for 18 years (since 1989) in Sacramento.
The organization was established in a unique partnership of the area’s hospitals (Mercy, Kaiser, Sutter Health, UCDMC) and Sacramento County DHHS, in 1989.
The agency receives funding from the hospitals and State and Federal sources, but stays vital through the support of the community.
